V questions 2,3,4 (in order)

In book 2 the government reinforces racism to brainwash London. The people need to be reminded that they are superior to other races and that they are the strongest race alive. The government uses media to reflect this. The book uses an example from the show The Nightmarish Future England of Storm Saxon. In the show Storm Saxon and Heidi (white) encounter a mongrel (black). Storm calls them “black cannibal filth” (108). It’s obvious that the government is degrading black people and putting them lower than whites. Also right after the transmission, the reporter mentions that people have lost their lives in Aberdeen and Glasgow because of “senseless terrorist violence” (108). The reporter is basically saying that everyone who isn’t white is a “terrorist”, and people should avoid them. The government put the material out there, and the people listen.

In the Leader’s fascist society women really don’t play a role at all. They are mostly viewed as entertainment (meaning sex). Women are more of an item than a person. No women hold major roles in the government. In the television shows they are depicted as very attractive, large chested, dumb, and dependant on men. They don’t hold jobs, so they go to the factories (hostels) or turn towards prostitution or stripping/dancing. Delia was a doctor, but she had no say in what she did, she was told what to do. Also, while in V’s “prison”, Evey was told that if she signed the statement that she would be out of jail in three years and could work with The Finger. Her kind was always getting sent there (162). The women are sent to work as people that do the dirty work or work on the streets. They will never get to sit at a nice desk with a city view instead they are lucky if they can even get a job with The Finger.

In order to get Evey to see the light that V sees, he puts her through a test that is very torturous. Like the techniques used today (that are supposed to be banned), V puts Evey through a test that tests her emotional and physical strength. She needs to see for her own eyes what the government can do. V shows her how they can kill loved ones and other people just because they are looked at as a threat. Valerie’s letter was used to show how far the government will go to create a pure society. Valerie was a lesbian, that’s all, and they tortured and killed her. I think given the circumstances I agree with V’s techniques. He had no intention of killing her. Evey was showing doubt in his motives, so he had to show her the light. He had to release her from her “happiness, the most insidious prison of all” (169).

Feed Review

Feed = Meg Squeaky

This unit, M.T Anderson, is like meg smart. This reading thingie he wrote called Feed is like the story of my life. It is my life. My mom who is meg null and def not a unette sent me this like link of this like bookstore and told me to download it. It was the first time I ever downloaded some thingie that had to do with learning. I usually don’t even bother reading because words are like meg null but my teacher at school™ is being like a meg ahole and is making everyone write a review on like a book. That’s the only reason I downloaded it.
Like most thingies I do for school™ I sparkplugged Feed. All the data was right in front of me. I was like omigod! I felt real connected with the units and unettes. I want to be just like them. Like all they do is get weaselfaced, have sex, and go in-mal. That’s a good days work to me. And then like on their Spring Break they went to the fricken Moon. And on the Moon they went clubbing and some old weird guy like zapped them and they woke up in the hospital. And when they woke up their feeds were like gone. But for fun they found all these needles and like threw them at some fake dudes crotch. I laughed meg hard when I read that. Then Titus this dude who is like just like me meets this girl Violet and they go out. He puts on the moves but she like ignores him like a real bitch, and she doesn’t want him until shes like meg depressed. To all the units and unettes you got to download Feed, by M.T Anderson.

4th set of stanzas

Katniss awakes with a collar around her throat
Peeta’s grip was more than she could connote
Doctors say he was “hijacked”
A form of torture that’s caused his mind some slack

The rebels march to district two
Plans were put through review
The “Nut” the Capitol needs, stands at the core
The rebels bomb it, until it stands no more

Training for the final battle commence
The atmosphere around thirteen starts to tense
The “Star Squad” prepares to embark
Coin tells them that they won’t get to leave their mark

A simple shot turns into pain
As Boggs steps on a mine, and is immediately slain
The block turns into a murder scene
Another pod is triggered and a black liquid replaces the smoke screen

Snow thought the squad was buried in the carnage mound
When really they trekked through the underground
The mutts aren’t fooled and go below
Finnick is the next to join deaths flow

Children are Snow’s only protection
The parachute bombs blow half the street section
Prim and other medics rush to their aide
The other bombs blow, making the bodies frayed

In the rose garden katniss finds Snow
There he tells her what Coin wants Panem to undergo
Coin votes for a Hunger Game to relay that the Capitol is dead
Then instead of Snow, Katniss putts an arrow through Coins head

Katniss goes on trial
The judges deem her to depressed to be hostile
Katniss and Peeta return to their home district
Where they and their children live without fear of conflict
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------end of story
(beginning stanzas)
District twelve, home of Katniss Everdeen
Where nothing shines green
The only places of interest are the hob
And the woods where they illegally rob

The day of the reaping comes with fear
People line the square waiting to who will disappear
Effie calls out Prim’s name
Katniss pushes her aside and volunteers to enter the next Hunger Game

The Story of Gluck: Hero of Falgar

A long, long, long time ago in the now peaceful realm of Falgar wasn’t so peaceful. The realm is known for its two towers. One is used for evil while the other is for good. Life on Falgar is dictated by a magic gem. The magic gem sits atop one of the two towers, and whichever one it’s in relates to the aura of the Realm. The inhabitants of Falgar try to make sure the gem always resides atop the good tower. It doesn’t happen often, only once in fact, that the gem has ever resided atop the evil tower. That time though, almost destroyed the realm.
Tranquil is a small village on the northeastern corner of Falgar. The closest village is a good month’s journey. The village was very quiet and peaceful. No one ever came, but whenever an outsider came (as rare as that was) they were always treated like a king. Tranquil was known for its dairy products. They were the best of the realm. Every young boy dreamed of becoming a famer and owning their own farm. The girls took pride in their work, and made sure their legacy of creating the best dairy products stuck.
Never, had there been a resident of Tranquil who didn’t want to continue the legacy. That was until Gluck was born. He didn’t fit in from the beginning. He just didn’t like farming. When most kids were out on the farm harvesting crop, he was inside reading old manuscripts and elder scrolls. His physique was also different than the other boys. While the farm boys were all strongly built, Gluck was very scrawny and could barely lift a bale of hay. This had a tremendous affect on his social life. Kids his age ignored him and labeled him as an outcast. The girls didn’t dare go near him for fear or getting punished for talking to the outcast. He wanted to leave Tranquil, he tried many times, but he always came back. He knew he couldn’t do anything once he left the village, he was useless, and had no special attributes. All he could do was long for the day when he could prove himself normal and not a defect.
One day while Gluck was in his hammock, reading about the elder days, he heard commotion coming from the village center. He decided to see what it was all about. The crowd reached all the way back to the churning houses when Gluck arrived. Everyone was staring at an outsider who looked like an angel. His name was Vivos and he came from the land of Vivata the home of the good tower. No one knew why such a person would travel to their land. Then he spoke, “I have come from the home of the good tower, to bring bad news.” The townsfolk began to cry out in utter fear. “The magic gem that brings good to this realm has been stolen by an evil serpent warlord who is bringing the gem back to the evil tower”. Even more fear swept through the crowd. “With the gem gone, life will be suspended. Nothing new can grow and everything that lives will slowly die. Not until the gem is returned will life be returned.”
At that point a farmer came running into the center of the crowd by Vivos and held up a handful of wheat. “It’s dead, it’s dead. I don’t know how but the wheat is dead, all of it dead.” Now the townspeople almost fainted.
“My god, it has already started. This is bad, real bad. Listen up everyone. I have traveled far and wide. I have visited every corner of the realm in search of someone who will travel to Desolan, home of the dark tower, slay the warlord, and return the gem back to the good tower. Is anyone brave enough to accept this task?” muttered Vivos. No one volunteered. “Please, Tranquil is the last place on my list to visit. If no one accepts then all hope of life will be gone.” Still no one volunteered. Then just as Vivos was leaving someone spoke up
“I accept the task.” Gluck stepped into the circle and repeated, “I accept this task.” The townsfolk were stunned and worried. Gluck is weak how could he save the realm. Vivos turned around and looked Gluck straight in the eyes, “Are you sure you want to accept this quest?”
“I’m positive,” replied Gluck.
“Then you should leave at once, time is ticking,” and with that Vivos disappeared.
Gluck ran back to his house and grabbed everything he thought he would need. His knapsack contained food, a dagger, and a drawing notebook. When he went back outside a man he had never spoken to stood outside with a horse by his side. “This horse is the fastest in all the realm, he shall guide you well in the unknown lands.” Gluck had to accept, and he did. Gluck saddled up and left for Desolan. This would be the first time that Gluck had ever ventured outside the village border.
The first blunder of many for Gluck came when he left his village. He had forgotten to ask where Desolan was located. He had no idea where he was going. That’s when something magical happened. The horse spoke to him. “Don’t fear young child. My name is Equin the Old and I have been around for many years, and know the land better than any elder. I sense that you want to go to Desolan. Tis a far journey, but I know shortcuts. We can make it by three months.” Gluck had never come across a speaking horse before, let alone an elder creature. He didn’t question his intelligence though, and knew he could trust him.
Gluck spoke, “Off to Desolan, I guess, and fast.”
The next few weeks were full of nothing but opalescent mountains and lakes, and more mountains and lakes. The scenery was fantastic. Gluck had never seen such beauty in his life. He noted all of his sightings in his drawing notebook. Soon it would be filled with something more then just pictures.
One day, after two months worth of travel, while resting, Equin suddenly became alert. “There is trouble coming this way. We must hurry and find a better spot to rest.” The two quickly packed their belongings and headed off to the nearby woods. Five minutes later, Gluck saw what Equin was talking about. Coming down from the mountains was a caravan of strange, shadowy looking creatures. Gluck almost fainted when he saw the horror that followed. After every step the caravan took, death followed. All those opalescent mountains and lakes turned into a distinct macabre color. Equin spoke softly to Gluck, “Those are minions of the warlord. They were the first to be cursed by the gem after in was brought to the evil tower. The only way they can be turned back is if the gem is returned to the good tower. Until that happens we must stay far away from them. They possess powers far greater than any man.”
Gluck couldn’t have agreed anymore with Equin. Out of fear, the two waited a full day, to be sure that they were out of reach. Back on the road, it seemed that they weren’t the only ones hiding from the minions. Hoards of all sorts of creatures were bounding along the road. They varied from tiny Elven frogs to the most treacherous marauders known to mankind. The strange thing about the creatures though, was that they all seemed to be following the path left by the evil caravan. Equin explained to Gluck that those who touch the death ridden path become cursed. Only the ones who don’t show fear are immuned. “I am very old, and even though those men may seem scary, I’ve seen worse.” Gluck was thankful that Equin did not fear, because he sure did.
After following the crowd for three weeks the two decided to veer off the path. Equin became weary that if they had stayed on that course that they might’ve been found out by one of the warlords assistants or spies. They decided that they should shadow the others on the side by the forest, out of site. That way they could easily find the tower without being seen by the spies.
A strange event occurred four days later. While walking in the forest the two stumbled upon a brood of crows. The two groups started to chatter amongst each other. Gluck came to realize that these were only the offspring, and that they were waiting for their mother to return. Suddenly the mother appeared. She was much larger than normal crows. She said her name was Be-Treyu, and that she was the chieftain of a village of crows who reside in a land where the trees are so high that they literally block the sun out.
“Where are you off to young adventurer?” Be-Treyu asked.
Gluck answered in a confident tone, “I am going to the evil tower to slay the evil warlord and return the magic gem to the good tower.”
“What a coincidence, we too are going there. I know secret ways. Come, follow me,” said Be-Treyu.
The young adventurer didn’t know how to respond. Should he trust her or no. He discussed his options with Equin.
“Should we trust her? She knows secret ways. We might be able to hasten our arrival to the tower,” whispered Gluck.
Equin answered in an elderly voice, “I don’t know Gluck. She wears the color of evil. I don’t think she should be trusted. But this is your quest, not mine, you write your own history.”
Gluck turned back towards Be-Treyu and defiantly said, “Be-Treyu, we give you our trust. Lead on.”
The group hastily made their way through the woods. After two days of traveling they came to a jagged cliff. The tower was across the gorge.
“How shall we cross,” asked Gluck.
“Watch, and you shall see,” Answered Be-Treyu.
The crow chieftain then flew high up into the air and started to recite some ancient language. Neither Gluck nor Equin had ever heard this language. When she returned a large staircase magically appeared. It stretched from the edge of the cliff to the top of the tower. The adventurers bounded up the stairs like young gazelles. Once on the top of the tower they could not understand what they saw.
Standing in the center of the top tier was the warlord and a small army. That’s when Be-Treyu and her brood of crows flew over and perched themselves on the mighty shoulders of the warlord.
“Thank you my dearest. You and your children have done well,” the warlord said with a growing grin.
“It was quite easy my lord. He disobeyed the elder horse and naively gave his trust to me,” laughed the crow.
Gluck suddenly became very pale and almost fainted. He felt like his whole world had been tipped upside down. He tried running back to the stairs, but right before he got to them he bounced back.
The warlord laughed so hard he knocked five of his minions over. “Silly human. Do you really think after brining you to my tower I would just let you go? I’ve heard of your quest young Gluck. My spies here have been following you ever since your quest began.”
The information was starting to overwhelm Gluck.
“You can’t do this. I will not let you succeed!” screamed Gluck.
Gluck took his little dagger out of his knapsack and charged the warlord. He took a swipe, but the warlord dodged the attack. The warlord then stepped on Gluck’s chest and pointed the end of his sword towards Gluck’s neck.
“A lot of courage you have young human. Pardon me. Have I introduced myself yet? I would hate for you not to know the name of the one that kills you. So, here it is, my name is Lucio, I have come from a far off realm to seek the power of the gem. Now your adventure shall end.”
Lucio raised his sword and was about to strike when all of a sudden he was knocked to the ground. Lucio had totally forgotten about Equin. The horse galloped and knocked over the minion. This gave enough time for Gluck to recover. He grabbed his sword and charged Lucio.
“Now it is your time to die,” yelled gluck.
Gluck took his sword and swiped down upon Lucio. His sword disemboweled Lucio. Then he dragged his lifeless body across the top of the tower. Now that the warlord was dead, all of his magical doings would be repeled, so the magical force field was gone. Gluck lifted the dead body of Lucio above his head, and then threw it over the ledge. Lucio’s body fell and fell and fell until it hit solid ground, where the entrails splattered all over the place.
With their leader now dead, and no one to obey, the minions scattered away from the tower. With the minions gone Gluck turned his attention to the other part of his task, taking the gem. The gem stood off to the side lodged inside of a crevice. There seemed to be dark vines attached to the bottom of the gem. When he went to touch the gem the vines instantly withered away and its dark color returned to its normal clear state. He was able to pick up the gem and place it in his knapsack. Gluck then walked over to Equin.
Gluck talked in a thankful tone, “Oh Equin, I owe my life to you. You saved my life. You saved the gem.”
“I was only doing what I felt was right. Also this quest isn’t over just yet. We must now make the trip to Vivata and return the gem to its natural state,” said Equin
The two traveled with great speed, only stopping when rest was absolutely needed. The gem, now in the hands of good, seemed to give them extra speed and strength. The trip that usually takes a two months journey was made in a week. Gluck stood before the tall white tower that gleamed in the sunlight. He stared in its awe. It took him a while to make it up the long stairs, for he found himself distracted by the beautiful artwork painted on the tower’s walls. Once at the top, Gluck placed the gem in its holding, and watched in amazement as green vines arose from the floor and engaged around the gem. With the gem restored Gluck could see the path of death slowly receding and turning into new life.
The townsfolk went crazy when Gluck arrived home from the trip. Never did they expect such a weakling to complete such a task. Those who bullied him now praised him. The girls who ignored him now adored him. Everyone was bowing to his feet. He was now popular and accepted.
In the months that followed the quest, the village of Tranquil became very popular. Travelers from all over the realm came to see Gluck. His notebook, where he pictured his adventure was published all over the lands. And that is how Gluck became the hero of Falgar.

3rd set of stanzas

Katniss is chosen to be the mockingjay
Her list of demands on display
The captured tributes are to be immune
And she gets to skin Snow like a baboon

A trip is taken to floor thirty-nine
Where it smells heavily of brine
Off to room eight
Cinna’s old crew shackled abate

Self Defense is next on the list
Where Beetee works as a mad scientist
A special bow made just for Katniss
Brings her a feeling of bliss

The propo is shot with little ease
It gave Haymitch particular displease
Command wants to put her in action
To see if she can cause a positive reaction

In District 8 the bombs are let loose
The number of dead bodies is profuse
A defenseless hospital destroyed
Katniss’ words fill a dying void

The Capitol strikes back with a propo of their own
Peeta thinks she’s acting like the rebels drone
The districts urge to rebel burns more than an ember
All of Panem becomes familiar with “We Remember”

Katniss sings “The hanging tree”
She realizes she may never be free
Beetee finally breaks through
People of the Capitol are shocked at what they view

Peeta speaks of death to thirteen
Nothing can be heard over the sirens breath
The bombings create a scare
But they can’t break the lair

Another delivery of roses
Katniss decomposes
She knows why Peeta is being used
She can only cry bruised and confused

The tributes are rescued from Snow
Finnick tells his dark secrets that bring woe
The rescued are happy to be back
Except Peeta who is intent on attack

Twisted Tale- Goldi Locks and The Three Bears

Goldilocks and The Three Bears
Today has been horrible. First my parents forced me to pick some flowers in these woods and then I find out that Justin Bieber is really 16 years old. I have always thought he was my age, way to ruin a little seven year olds dream, Justin. Where are these flowers anyways? My parents didn’t even tell me what kind to get. I think I’ll wander in the woods to spare some time, and pick up some dandelions on my way back.
Wow, a house! Why would there be a house this deep in the forest? Something smells really good. It seems to be coming from the house. I’m so hungry, I have to go in. The house surprisingly is nicer than the ones back in the village. Who would’ve thought that a house in the woods was better than a mansion in the village? The smell is coming from a table in the kitchen. On it were plates full of all kinds of shrimp. Let’s start with the fried shrimp. Not bad, but Mario Batali makes them better. What next, how about the jumbo shrimp. Woa, those are way too big, the people that live here must be pretty big. Ahhh, the shrimp gumbo, Bubba Gump got nuthin’ on this gumbo. That has to be the best gumbo I’ve ever had in my life.
All this walking has made my feet tired. Hey, there are some chairs in the next room. All of the chairs have some sort of picture on them. The Fat Albert one looks comfy enough. Ugh, this is so uncomfortable, it’s so big. Even Fat Albert would feel small in this chair. Next…..ugh, Justin Bieber I think I’ll leave that one alone. OH MY GOD, A SPONGEBOB CHAIR! This is so comfortable; I wish I had one of these in my room. CRASH. Ooops, I think I ripped his pants. What should I do, I ruined it. Better yet, what would Obama do? I’ll just pick it up on the way out whoever lives here probably won’t notice.
Now that my feet are rested, I think I’ll take a nap and rest the rest of my body. This bedroom is pretty big. Which bed should I sleep in? This one is large with honey colored sheets that one is small with stars, and the third one seems average and it has pink sheets. I love pink!
What, what, what was that? Where is that noise coming from? I hear mumbling. Oh no, the owners have come home and they realized I ate their shrimp dinner along with seeing Spongebob’s ripped pants. Maybe they won’t come up here.
“Where is my shrimp gumbo” a feminine voice said.
“My chair is broken, see Spongebob’s pants are ripped” another said innocently.
“What was that upstairs, I think something or someone is up there. We should look” said a more masculine voice.
I have to get out of here, they could capture me, maybe even eat me. I can’t go down stairs, so I guess my other option is the window. I hear them coming I better hurry up and get out of here.
“It’s a little girl! What? There’s no way she could’ve eaten all that food” said the masculine one.
“Daddy, since she ate our food, ripped Spongebob’s pants, and slept in our beds can we eat her?” The little one said.
“Well I am hungry, let’s get her.” The masculine one said.
Ahhhh bears! Weeeeee I’m flying! Ouch, that hurt. I didn’t realize the window was so high up. I’m never coming back here again! Now where are those flowers?

Damned Thing Rewrite

Off the coast of Spain lies a small island, so remote that it doesn’t even appear on world maps. No one outside the little island even knows about it. It’s only other proof of existence is a little piece of paper Christopher Columbus had signed, claiming the island as property of Spain. The Queen called it Deserted Island. Over the years people passed it by, and did nothing, though some occasionally stopped and rested. When passing by, it looked like a giant sandbar. Its inhabitants, four small families, were all descendants from the islands first inhabitant or so they thought.
It was July, which meant that it was trading month. The Rodriguez family would be traveling to the mainland where they would sell their catch. For some odd reason, Luis stayed behind, stating he was behind in his work. Luis was a well respected and exceptional scientist, so the family didn’t question. After a week of selling fish and spending their profit, the family returned with smiles. Their catch had totaled over $300,000, but after all the expenditures $200,000 remained. Chris wanted to tell his father all about his stay on the mainland, but couldn’t find him. All of a sudden a screech was heard from behind the house, it was Roberta. The family rushed to find Roberta standing over a charred body and crimson stained ashes scattered about. The body belonged to Luis. The family made contact with the mainland and the criminal investigating unit quickly arrived. They searched the island for clues. Trees were severely gnawed and there were lines of charred sand zigzagging through small lines of trees. Chris went on his own to look for clues. About five feet to the left of where his father had been found lay a video camera filled with unharmed tape that dated back to the beginning of the week. He showed the investigators, who had also found multiple cameras, but they were all fried. All hope of finding out what had happened to Luis rested in what was inside of the one working camera.
The head investigator plugged the video from the camera into the VCR. What they saw was astonishing. Luis was standing in front of the house; it looked like he was waving to his family. After a couple of minutes of standing and waving, he anxiously/nervously looked about in all directions. He then sprinted back into the house. Nothing moved for several days. On the fifth day, a powerful storm started up. It was nothing like Chris had ever seen. Trees swayed violently in the strong winds and large waves crashed down onto the land. The next night Luis was seen creeping out of the house with some sort of metallic rod. It resembled a lightning rod. He ran behind the house where there was a small clearing in front of a small set of trees and started to prod the sand, putting holes in the ground, and then connecting the holes with lines drawn by the rod. The rod stood directly in the middle. The figure was in the shape of some ancient symbol. It was a flame inside of a circle.
At exactly midnight, a very bright light flew down from the sky and landed right in the circle hitting the pole. At that moment a force field seemingly sprouted out of nowhere and inside stood some sort of electromagnetic creature, a lightning elemental or some sort. The creature thrashed about, trying to break through the bonds, but it was in vain, for it was not going to break. Luis jumped around screaming in joy. Most of the words were hard to understand but what could clearly be heard was, “I have caught it, I have caught it, I have really caught it.” He stepped on the ground in some sort of pattern; it looked like he was trying to find something. His foot then sunk into the sand, and as he pulled it out, the sand disappeared and out of it arose a lab. Luis picked up a two pronged pole from one of the lab tables and stuck it through the force field, into the creature. Temperature readings, EMP force, radiation data swarmed one of the computer screens. “Argggghhh, Eeeeeeee”, the creature was screeching so loudly that Luis had to put on a device resembling earmuffs. The next instrument of choice was a long pole with a rotating satellite dish on the end. He tried to connect it to the top of the pole, but he was trembling so much from the screeching that he missed and the creature unexpectedly caught it. It pulled the instrument, along with Luis, through the shield, thus breaking the magnetic bond of the force field. With the bond now broken the creature suddenly vanished. His facial expressions turned into great fear, he seemed to know he was going to die. There was movement among the trees. They bent and broke. The ones left standing looked like they had been hit by a fireball. Blood suddenly started to spew from Luis’ body. Many cuts were forming all over his body. “Owww, Arrghhhh”, Luis was screaming. The edge of the cuts started to char and turn black. He almost resembled a roasted pig as he crawled toward his set of instruments. He reached for a small round object with a switch on it and flicked it. An explosion of light came from where he lay. The explosion left as quickly as it had come. What was left was a pile of ashes and the dead body of Luis.
Everyone in the room was silent. They were still shocked from what had just been viewed. The investigators moved to the next room where they deliberated on the cause of death of Luis.
“What we have just witnessed is beyond explanation. I don’t even know where to start. In my fifteen years in this business I have never seen such a thing. How are we supposed to explain this to the chief? There’s no way he’ll believe this” Stated Richard (head of the unit).
The others mumbled amongst themselves. “He’s right, what are we supposed to tell the head honcho? Are jobs are on the line here. He’s going to laugh at us and fire us on the spot. (One of them mimics the chief) You’re going to tell me a creature came down from the sky, turned invisible, and killed this man. HAHAHAHAH, is this some sort of joke. That’s the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard. My 2 month old son makes more sense than you, and he can barely speak.”
He stops mimicking and the investigators stop talking. Then the youngest of the group came up with an idea.
“That’s it. A lightning storm, that’s it. We can tell the chief that Mr. Rodriguez was outside studying the weather during a storm, and was repeatedly struck by lightning while holding the lightning rod. That answers the charred body. Then we can tell him that the lightning burnt the sand creating the ash. Most of it is going to blow away anyways, so we won’t have to show him the ones with blood.”
The unit agreed, and they walked to the family to tell them that their work there was done.
“I heard what you said. You are going to tell everybody my father dies from a lightning storm. That’s a lie”, said Chris.
“Well kid, unless you tell me something I didn’t see, your father was killed by lightning”, replied Richard.
“But that’s a lie. You saw that creature attack him”, said Chris.
“Actually, no, I didn’t. I saw lightning hit a lightning rod then disappear and your father on the ground burnt to a pulp” Snickered Richard.
“But what about the ashes with my father’s blood”, Chris was trying as hard as he could to get Richard to tell the truth.
“What ashes. There are no ashes. Even if there were, they would’ve been blown out to sea by now. Sorry kid, our work here is done.”
With that last reply the investigators left to return to the mainland. The family finally came to terms with the death, and buried Luis on the island. The report back on the mainland said Luis Rodriguez died from being struck repeatedly by lightning. The one thing that still baffled the investigators and the family was…what happened to the lab.
The door was next to the staircase leading to the second floor. Behind the door was an elevator that led straight down for about 50 feet. Once stopped, it opened to a magnificent underwater laboratory. The lab spread over the size of the island and it was enclosed by some strong glass. It made the visitor seem like they were swimming in the ocean. There stood many machines and tables full of equipments. On the ceiling lay panels where the lab could shift up above surface level. That is how Luis brought up his instruments during the event. In the far corner of the lab a large computer sat on top of a large desk with many drawers. That is where the most important work of Luis Rodriguez rested.
The file was labeled: Lightning Creature- the one that never dies. Luis kept every part of this file neatly organized. The first section was a timeline dating back to the 1400’s. Shown next to the timeline was an energy chart with side notes by Luis. If the link labeled key dates was clicked, the timeline would cut itself up, and only show the dates where the energy level was higher than 200. The first note read: an explosion caused the forming of Deserted Island. The one that never dies was that explosion. The explosion was so powerful that it lowered the water level enough so that a small strip of land protruded from the water. Other notes followed: This creature is not dangerous. Its energy level is very remarkable, and whenever it makes its presence something extraordinary occurs. I would love to study this creature and figure out what causes these ratings. It comes by explosion, and with my recent data seems to be lightning. The last note s written by Luis were dated the month that he died. Energy levels have spiked to 182 in Earth’s core. I have tested the force field many times and it has been able to withstand energy levels of over 400. Once it is the force field, I will stab it with the two pronged rod which will measure its energy ratings. The satellite rod will be used to take in the sounds of the creature and attempt to translate what it says. The creature will arrive in four days. This is unfortunate because my family is leaving to cash in earnings for our catch that day, but this is a once in a lifetime moment, so I cannot miss this. This creature doesn’t seem harmless so I’m hoping it won’t react violently to my instruments.
The last and newest file uploaded to the computer was dated the exact day and time that Luis died. The file contained everything from the encounter. The satellite rod did its job.
“I come in peace, please stop. Why have you trapped me? I am just a creature of lightning. I have come for my rest stop. I come to Earth every 200 years when my orbit intersects with Earth’s. I have only come to admire its beauty… If you insist on a fight I will retaliate. I feel no pain but you shall.”
No one ever saw or discovered this information, let alone the lab. The family left after Luis’ death and the houses remained. The soul of Luis and the Lightning creature are all that reside on the island.
